Jaipur – The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts proudly announces the transformation of its iconic restaurant Mohan Mahal into Jamavar, the brand’s celebrated signature Indian fine-dining experience, now making its debut in Rajasthan at The Leela Palace Jaipur.
Long regarded as a jewel in the city’s culinary crown, Mohan Mahal begins a new chapter as Jamavar—retaining its regal essence while introducing an elevated dining experience rooted in Indian heritage, elegance, and The Leela’s ethos of True Indian Luxury.
Already a hallmark of fine Indian cuisine at The Leela Palace New Delhi, The Leela Mumbai, and The Leela Palace Bengaluru, Jamavar brings to Jaipur a distinguished legacy of gastronomic excellence. This launch not only reflects the brand’s commitment to preserving and reimagining India’s rich culinary traditions but also aligns with its vision to craft experiences that resonate deeply with both global travellers and Jaipur’s discerning local diners.
Inspired by the intricate beauty of 16th-century Jamavar shawls of Kashmir, the restaurant combines timeless craftsmanship with refined modernity. The design honours the opulence of Mohan Mahal, retaining over 350,000 hand-cut Thikri mirrors reminiscent of Jaipur’s Sheesh Mahal, accentuated with 18-carat gold-leaf embellishments. The transformation subtly introduces a renewed identity while preserving the space’s majestic charm. Live instrumental performances each evening evoke the ambiance of royal courts, adding cultural depth to the dining experience.
Jamavar Jaipur’s menu is a celebration of both its iconic dishes—Gucchi Mutter Masala, Kofta-e-Jamavar, Dal-e-Jamavar, and Gosht ki Galouti—and new creations inspired by Rajasthan’s royal kitchens. Crafted from the finest locally sourced ingredients, each dish is presented as a work of art, inspired by the intricate detailing of Parchinkari—a Mughal inlay artform reflecting precision and elegance.
Adding a ceremonial dimension to the experience is a signature handwash ritual, inspired by royal dining traditions of the 16th century, offering guests a moment of reflection and setting the tone for a truly immersive meal.
In a noteworthy move, Jamavar Jaipur will feature an all-women service team, reflecting The Leela’s dedication to gracious hospitality and gender diversity. The dining experience is further enriched by a narrative-driven beverage programme that combines heritage ingredients and modern mixology with a curated selection of wines and spirits.
Anoop Pandey, Vice President & General Manager, The Leela Palace Jaipur, shared:
Mohan Mahal has always been a cherished icon, not only for The Leela but also for Jaipur’s dining landscape. Its transformation into Jamavar is both a tribute to its legacy and a continuation of our vision to set new benchmarks in Indian fine dining. With this, we extend the Jamavar legacy to Rajasthan, curating an experience where every dish and every detail embodies palace-worthy refinement and the soul of True Indian Luxury.”
With Jamavar’s arrival, The Leela Palace Jaipur introduces Rajasthan to its first-ever Jamavar, establishing a new culinary landmark in the state. This transformation is just the beginning of an exciting evolution in the hotel’s food and beverage offerings, with more announcements set to redefine Jaipur’s fine-dining scene in the near future.
