Logic, Confidence, and Law — Future Legal Minds Shine at JECRC’s Intra Moot Court Competition

Jaipur:The School of Law at JECRC University successfully concluded its first-ever Intra Moot Court Competition on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in fostering legal intellect among aspiring lawyers. The event was graced by Hon’ble Justice Ashutosh Kumar of the Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur Bench, as the Chief Guest, and Anita Sharma, Member of the Permanent Lok Adalat, as the Guest of Honour.

Centered on a complex topic in criminal law, the competition witnessed outstanding displays of advocacy, legal reasoning, and courtroom etiquette by the participating students.

While addressing the students, Justice Ashutosh Kumar emphasized that “loss is just a perspective; it never defines one’s potential.” Quoting the famous Kesavananda Bharati case, he explained that while decisions are taken by majority, what leaves an impact is how convincingly arguments are presented — because with time, ideas evolve, and so does the law.

Encouraging the budding lawyers, he advised them to constantly hone their logical reasoning, stressing that honesty and patience are key to sound judgment. He also highlighted the importance of practical knowledge and staying updated with latest judgments, noting that these are far more valuable than textbook theories for a successful legal career.

The competition, designed to prepare JECRC students for national and international legal platforms, spanned three intellectually intensive days. Out of 28 participating teams, 8 advanced to the quarterfinals, 4 to the semifinals, and finally, the top 2 competed in the final round.

To simulate a real courtroom environment, over 50 experienced High Court criminal law specialists formed the judging panel. They rigorously evaluated each team’s legal arguments and presentation skills.

The valedictory ceremony saw winners, runners-up, and other outstanding performers being awarded trophies and cash prizes in recognition of their excellence.

More than just a competition, this event became a powerful learning platform — testing not only students’ legal acumen but also their ability to think critically, reason effectively, and adapt like true legal professionals.
