Purple Walk for Hope Held Across Multiple Cities Ahead of World Abdominal Cancer Day

 

Jaipur May 17. Ahead of World Abdominal Cancer Day on May 19, a large-scale multi-city awareness walkathon titled “Purple Walk for Hope” was organized by the Abdominal Cancer Trust in association with Fortis Hospital and IIEMR. The campaign aimed to spread awareness about abdominal cancers and highlight the importance of early detection, timely treatment, and healthy living.

Thousands of participants from various cities joined the awareness drive wearing symbolic purple T-shirts, representing courage, hope, and solidarity with cancer survivors. The campaign was conducted simultaneously in several cities across India to encourage people to adopt healthier lifestyles and undergo regular health screenings.

In Jaipur, the awareness walk commenced from Jaleb Chowk and passed through major landmarks including Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Atish Market, Tripolia Bazaar, Badi Chaupar, and Hawa Mahal before concluding back at Jaleb Chowk.

The event witnessed participation from several prominent personalities, including Chief Guest Padmanabh Singh, Pt. Suresh Mishra, President of Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha, Dr. Sandeep Jain, Founder of Abdominal Cancer Trust and World Abdominal Cancer Day, Dr. Manish Agrawal, Director of Fortis Hospital, Mukesh Gupta, Director of Jova Italia Pharma Company, Praveen Tijaria, President of Jaipur Runners Club, Ravi Goenka, Co-Founder of Jaipur Runners Club, Olympian Paramjeet Kaur, Advocate Kamlesh Sharma, and Mukesh Mishra, Director of Indian Institute of Event Management and Research (IIEMR).

Speaking on the occasion, Padmanabh Singh said that fitness plays a vital role in preventing diseases like cancer and urged people to spread maximum awareness about cancer prevention and early diagnosis.

Dr. Sandeep Jain said the overwhelming participation reflected the strength of collective efforts in the fight against life-threatening diseases. He emphasized that awareness, lifestyle changes, and regular screenings are the strongest tools for prevention and early detection of abdominal cancers.

Pt. Suresh Mishra stated that the objective of the campaign was to ensure that people do not ignore the early symptoms of abdominal cancers and understand the importance of timely diagnosis.

Mukesh Mishra, Director of IIEMR, said the Purple Walk was not only an awareness campaign but also a strong message of public participation towards health awareness across the country. He added that the campaign was simultaneously organized in more than 10 cities, including Jaipur, Delhi, Nagpur, Mumbai, Jodhpur, and Kota.

Expert Panel Discussion on Preventive GI Oncology on May 19

As part of the World Abdominal Cancer Day initiative, a special expert panel discussion will be held at Holiday Inn Jaipur City Centre on May 19. Renowned medical experts from across the country will deliberate on preventive GI oncology, modern cancer diagnostic techniques, and the role of AI-based technologies in early cancer detection.

Dr. S.S. Sharma will deliver a session on “Early Detection of Luminal GI Cancer through AI Endoscopy,” while Dr. Sandeep Jain will speak on patient awareness and preventive approaches in abdominal cancer care.
