Evergreen Melodies Mark R.D. Burman's Birth Anniversary at Musical Tribute in Jaipur

 

Jaipur. A nostalgic musical evening celebrating the timeless melodies of legendary composer R.D. Burman and iconic singer Asha Bhosle was held at the Rangayan Auditorium of Jawahar Kala Kendra on Saturday. Titled "Hits of R.D. Burman and Asha Bhosle," the event transported the audience back to the golden era of Hindi film music.

Organized by the Sargam Ladies Music Group under the direction of renowned versatile singer Mukta Chaddha, the programme featured performances by 20 women singers from Jaipur. Dr. Leela Boradia, founder of Neerja International, attended as the chief guest, while former Rajasthan State Women's Commission chairperson Suman Sharma was the guest of honour.

The evening began with a Saraswati Vandana, followed by soulful renditions of evergreen classics such as Aankhon Se Jo Utari Hai Dil Mein, Mausam Mastana, Kitne Bhi Tu Kar Le Sitam, Tu Tu Hai Wahi, O Mere Sona Re, Do Lafzon Ki Hai, and Aao Na Gale Laga Lo Na. The performances by Anuradha Mathur, Vishakha Gehlot, Mamta Jha, Sandhya Aswal, Priya Bothra, Poonam Jain, Nisha Sharma, Ritu Srivastava, Kopal Mathur, Neelu Joshi, Nidhi Balana, Malti Singh, Bhavana Kashyap, Renu Mathur, Meera Saxena, Dr. Rashi Agrawal, Priyanka Sharma, Ila Kulshreshtha, and Swati Shrimali received enthusiastic applause.

Mukta Chaddha emerged as the highlight of the evening with her energetic performance of "Dum Maro Dum," which had the audience swaying along. The programme concluded on a memorable note with her duet with Sandhya Aswal on "Hare Rama Hare Krishna," earning a standing ovation from the audience.

The finale featured all participating singers performing "Jeevan Ke Har Mod Par," "Aati Rahengi Baharen," and "Aane Wala Pal Jaane Wala Hai" as a heartfelt group tribute to R.D. Burman. The event was gracefully anchored by Anuradha Mathur, while Usha Agrawal and Anuradha Mathur played key roles in coordinating the successful programme.
