Jaipur: Strengthening the link between science education, global research, and industry exposure, JECRC University’s School of Science has grown into the largest science department in Rajasthan, driven by increasing student interest and a strong academic ecosystem.
Bringing together eight major disciplines—Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Physics, Forensic Science, Mathematics, Botany, and Zoology—under one umbrella, the School of Science offers students a diversified and comprehensive learning environment focused on practical education and research-driven learning.
A key factor behind this growth is the institution’s highly qualified faculty. All faculty members hold PhD degrees and possess an average of over 15 years of teaching and research experience. The dedicated academic team has collectively published more than 850 research papers in leading journals indexed by SCI, Scopus, and UGC-CARE, along with over 100 books published by renowned international publishers.
The department’s research ecosystem is strongly focused on practical and outcome-based innovation. This approach has helped secure research grants exceeding ₹1 crore from prestigious government agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT). More than 45 students have successfully earned their PhD degrees from the department so far.
Faculty members have also earned national and international recognition. Professor Jagdev Singh from the Mathematics Department has been featured in Stanford University’s list of the world’s top 2 percent scientists and has been ranked fourth in India by Research.com. Meanwhile, Professor Ekta Meghani was recently honored with the Women in STEM Leadership Award for her contributions to science and education.
The School of Science also provides significant international exposure to its students. Biotechnology students are currently undertaking international internships in Vietnam, while several students are conducting research projects at premier institutions such as IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, and CSIR laboratories. Additionally, IAESTE interns from Austria and Mexico are contributing to the university’s multicultural academic environment, fostering global collaboration and cross-cultural learning.
To further enhance academic opportunities, the university has established an Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) facility on campus, offering students greater exposure to astronomy and space sciences. Regular hackathons, workshops, and academic events also provide students with direct interaction with global industry experts and researchers.
Professor Vidhi Dubey, Dean of the School of Science, emphasized that the true purpose of education is to help students understand science deeply and use their knowledge to innovate solutions that address societal needs.
With its experienced faculty, vibrant research culture, international collaborations, and industry-oriented approach, JECRC University’s School of Science continues to strengthen its position as a leading and trusted destination for science education in Rajasthan and beyond.
