Photography and Painting Come Together at ‘Nazar’ Exhibition at Jawahar Kala Kendra
DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma Says Photography Is an Art of Preserving Moments, Emotions and Stories
Jaipur, August 21: The fifth season of the ‘Nazar Photo and Painting Exhibition’ opened at Jawahar Kala Kendra on Friday as part of the Rajasthan Photo Festival celebrations on the occasion of World Photography Day. The three-day exhibition is being held from August 21 to 23, showcasing a curated collection of photographs and paintings depicting Rajasthan’s culture, nature, wildlife and everyday life, along with works from various parts of India and abroad.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, who formally opened the event and lit the ceremonial lamp. He toured the exhibition and appreciated the creativity, artistic skills and unique perspectives of the participating photographers and artists.
DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma said photography is not merely the art of capturing an image but a medium of preserving a moment, emotion and story. He said exhibitions like ‘Nazar’ provide a platform for artists to showcase their creativity while giving society an opportunity to view the world from different perspectives. He particularly appreciated the wildlife and nature photographs, saying such works can play an important role in creating awareness and sensitivity towards the environment.
Retired IAS officer Pawan Arora said exhibitions such as ‘Nazar’ provide an excellent platform for people associated with art and photography to share their creativity. He noted that photographs reflect not only a visual scene but also the photographer’s thoughts, emotions and perspective. He added that the inclusion of paintings alongside photography makes the exhibition even more distinctive.
Organisers Renuka Kumawat, Sanjay Kumawat, Aditi Agarwal, Dolly Agarwal and others welcomed the guests and briefed them about the themes and artworks displayed at the exhibition.
Wildlife Photography Draws Attention
Photographs by Dr. Kamlesh Sharma, Additional Director (Publicity) at Police Headquarters and a wildlife photographer, are among the highlights of the exhibition. His collection features wildlife as well as photographs based on various other themes.
Well-known photojournalists and wildlife photographers from Jaipur and Rajasthan, along with administrative officers, doctors, students and painting artists, are participating in the exhibition with their creative works.
IFS Arijit Banerjee, along with a large number of art and photography enthusiasts, attended the inaugural event. Visitors appreciated the photographs and paintings and praised the efforts of the participating artists.
Organiser Renuka Kumawat said the exhibition aims to provide a common platform for photographers, photojournalists and painting artists while introducing the public to diverse forms of art and photography.
Entry to the exhibition is free. Various activities and opportunities to win prizes will also be available for visitors throughout all three days of the exhibition.
