Art from Four Countries Comes Together in Abidjan; ‘Love, Laughter… Till Death’ Exhibition Draws Attention
Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire: An international group art exhibition titled “Love, Laughter… Till Death” is being held at the Rotonde des Arts Contemporary Art Gallery in Abidjan, bringing together works by four contemporary artists from India, Spain, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.
The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of François Remarck, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Culture and Arts; Guillermo Marín Gorbea, Ambassador of Spain; Othman El Ferdaous, Ambassador of Morocco; and Dominique Favre, Ambassador of Switzerland.
The participating artists are Gaurishankar Soni from India, Durone from Spain, Wanly Tiené from Côte d’Ivoire and Kofi Setorji from Ghana. Through their distinct cultural backgrounds, artistic perspectives and mediums, the four artists explore universal themes including love, laughter, life, human emotions, death and existence.
The exhibition brings painting and sculpture together in a shared artistic dialogue. Despite differences in geography and culture, the artworks reveal a strong connection through common human experiences.
Indian Artist Gaurishankar Soni’s Works Highlighted
Representing India, Gaurishankar Soni explores themes of time, memory, love, life and death. Through familiar objects, human figures, symbols and traces of time, he presents experiences and memories in a poetic and symbolic visual language.
The exhibition features 11 of Soni’s acrylic-on-canvas works, exploring the emotional relationships between love, life and death. In his art, ordinary objects and figures often acquire deeper human meanings. His works invite viewers not only to observe but also to connect with their own memories and experiences.
“Love, Laughter… Till Death” is more than an exhibition of artworks from four countries. It provides a platform for cultural and human dialogue between Asia, Europe and Africa, highlighting how people can share common experiences despite differences in culture, language and geography.
The exhibition, which opened on September 24, will continue through October 24, offering visitors an opportunity to experience diverse artistic expressions connected by universal human emotions.
