Jaipur. Recognized by the India Book of Records 2025 as “India’s only and largest exhibition based on puns,” the fifth edition of “Nayapun–Cham” is currently being आयोजित by JECRC University’s Jaipur School of Design in collaboration with Pencilbox Design founder Anurag S.
The exhibition, being held at the Sudarshan Art Gallery of Jawahar Kala Kendra, will continue until March 29. It presents a unique blend of humor, intellect, and visual art. Visitors can enjoy creative and witty displays ranging from a “dacoo’mentary” on Gabbar Singh’s life to tigers working out in “Jim Corbett.”
Featuring over 100 humorous puns, the exhibition includes 16 large art installations created by JECRC students, 6 framed puns, and around 80 digital puns. The event was inaugurated by Urvashi Varman (Principal, The Palace School) and Meenakshi Singh (Co-founder, Khatu Designs and Chairperson, ADI Jaipur).
Appreciating the visual masterpieces, Shivani Kaushik, Dean of Jaipur School of Design at JECRC, said that the students have beautifully woven satire and linguistic nuances into their artworks, showcasing a high level of design thinking and craftsmanship.
To encourage audience participation, an “Apnapan Wall” has also been set up where visitors can share their own original puns and vote for their favorites.
Some highlights from the exhibition include:
“A barber wanted to brand his shop, he named it… Nike Dukaan.” — A clever wordplay combining the global brand “Nike” with the Hindi phrase “Nai Ki” (barber’s).
“He was tired of engineering. Today, he finally ‘B.Tech’ down.” — A witty twist on the Hindi phrase “ghutne tek diye” (to give up), replacing “tek” with the engineering degree “B.Tech.”
The exhibition stands out as a vibrant celebration of creativity, language, and humor, attracting visitors of all ages.
