Full Body Check-up of Elephants Conducted at Hathi Gaon

Jaipur. The usually calm Hathi Gaon in the Pink City remained abuzz with activity over the past two days as the Forest Department organized a special health camp, where 76 elephants underwent thorough medical check-ups.

The veterinary team carried out detailed examinations, closely inspecting everything from the elephants’ nails to the brightness of their eyes. Experts collected blood and dung samples, while also guiding mahouts on proper care of the elephants’ feet and nails. These samples will be analyzed at the State Disease Diagnostic Center to determine the overall fitness of the elephants.

Deputy Director of Nahargarh Biological Park, Dr. Arvind Mathur, informed that oral cavities and eyes of the elephants were examined, and blood and dung samples were collected. He added that mahouts were provided with medicines and guidance for proper care of the elephants’ feet and nails. The Forest Department also supplied essential vitamins, minerals, and other supplements to all the elephants.

According to Ballu Khan, even the youngest male elephant, Veeru, underwent the check-up. Hathi Gaon has only two male elephants, and Veeru, aged around 10 years, is the youngest among them.

Microchips of all elephants were also checked, with special focus on their eyes and feet. On this occasion, a discussion session was organized for elephant owners and mahouts, where they were educated about proper care, diet, and management of elephants during the summer season.
