Heritage Walk from Kishanpol to Nahargarh Fort Marks World Heritage Day in Jaipur

 

Jaipur. On the occasion of World Heritage Day, the Department of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Rajasthan, organized a “Heritage Walk” to promote awareness about the conservation of historical and cultural heritage.

The walk commenced at 6:00 AM from the Virasat Museum in Kishanpol Bazaar and concluded at Nahargarh Fort. The event was flagged off by Archaeological Superintendent Sohan Lal Chaudhary. Around 250 participants from Jaipur and various parts of Rajasthan took part in the walk.

The route began at Virasat Museum, passing through Chhoti Chaupar, Gangauri Bazaar, Langar Ke Balaji, Nahargarh Police Station, and the scenic 12-turn hill road leading up to Nahargarh Fort. Participants returned via the same route.

Several organizations including Wax Museum Nahargarh, Saras Dairy, Jaipur Metro, Navodaya Urja Society, and Ujjivan Bank supported the event. Refreshments such as buttermilk, lemon shikanji, bananas, and oranges were provided to participants at Nahargarh Fort, along with water arrangements throughout the route.

Participants enthusiastically joined the walk and enjoyed the journey from Jaipur’s plains to the hilly terrain leading to Nahargarh Fort. The panoramic view of Jaipur city from the fort added to their excitement. During the walk, participants and visitors scanned QR codes installed at monuments to learn about their historical significance.

After the completion of the walk, medals were distributed to participants at the Virasat Museum.

At Nahargarh Fort, tourists were welcomed with garlands and tilak, and toffees were distributed. Rangoli decorations were made at various spots within the monument. Free entry was provided to visitors on World Heritage Day, allowing them to explore and learn more about the historic site with great enthusiasm.
