Jaipur. In protest against the closure of the university canteen, student leader Shubham Rewar staged a strong demonstration outside the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat on campus. Hundreds of students joined the protest, beating plates to voice their demands and even setting up a tea stall on the spot to draw the administration’s attention.
Rewar stated that the closure of the canteen has caused significant inconvenience in students’ daily lives. The lack of basic facilities such as food and tea during study hours is affecting their routine and academic focus.
Students also alleged that while professors and staff manage by ordering refreshments from outside, it is the common students who are the worst affected by the situation.
They held Vice Chancellor Prof. Alpana Kateja responsible for the situation, accusing her of negligence and indifference towards student issues. According to the protesters, instead of focusing on student welfare, the administration is more engaged in other matters, leading to growing resentment among students—especially at a time when exams and admissions are approaching.
During the protest, students clearly demanded the immediate reopening of the canteen to ensure essential facilities for all. They also raised demands to restart the swimming pool and organize an international fest. The students warned that if their demands are not addressed soon, the agitation will be intensified.
