Chief Secretary V. Srinivas inspects ongoing works, issues directions for development amid rising tourist footfall

 

Focus on Conservation and Visitor Facilities at Amer Fort

Jaipur May 17. In view of the increasing number of tourists visiting Amer Fort, the Rajasthan government has intensified efforts to strengthen visitor facilities and conservation works at the historic monument. Chief Secretary V. Srinivas visited Amer Fort on Sunday to inspect the ongoing development and restoration projects.

During the visit, he first offered prayers at the revered Shila Mata Temple and later reviewed various sections of the palace complex.

Officials informed him that around 2.282 million tourists visited Amer Fort over the past year, including nearly 270,000 foreign visitors. Considering the average daily footfall of about 6,270 tourists, the Chief Secretary directed officials to further improve parking facilities, toilets, and approach roads leading to Amer.

He expressed satisfaction over the ongoing development works worth ₹25.5 crore, including parking expansion, Kheri Gate Road development, and other conservation projects. He also appreciated the restoration work being carried out at Man Singh Mahal and Sheesh Mahal, stressing the importance of preserving the original architectural character of the heritage structures.

The Chief Secretary also issued necessary instructions regarding the digital museum project and training of tourist guides.

Among those present during the inspection were Archaeology Department Director Dr. Pankaj Dharendra, Tourism Department Joint Director Rakesh Sharma, Amer Fort Superintendent Dr. Rakesh Chholak, Executive Director (Works) of Amer Development and Management Authority Mahesh Sharma, and guide Mahesh Sharma.
