Jaipur. Nature, seasonal beauty, Indian classical music and vibrant folk traditions came together at the annual cultural programme ‘Aao Jhoome Gaaye’, organised by Darshak Sanstha on Saturday evening at the main auditorium of Darshak College of Music and Arts in Malviya Nagar.
The event was jointly organised by Darshak Sanstha, Darshak College and Swarmay Music Academy. The entire programme was directed by music guru Rajeev Bhatt, who also composed and arranged all the musical pieces presented during the evening. Lokesh Agarwal, Secretary of Darshak College of Music and Arts, was also present on the occasion.
The programme opened with group songs celebrating nature and the changing seasons. The lyrics were written by programme coordinator Promila Rajeev, while Rajeev Bhatt composed the music. A group rendition of Raag Megh Malhar followed, creating a melodious atmosphere and capturing the essence of the monsoon season.
One of the major highlights was an orchestral performance based on Raag Bhimpalasi, presented by nearly 30 musicians, showcasing the richness of Indian classical music. Performances of traditional folk songs, both short and long, brought the colours and diversity of India's folk heritage to life. The programme concluded with a captivating instrumental ensemble based on Raag Yaman Kalyan, leaving the audience spellbound.
Dance performances were another key attraction of the evening. Under the direction of Rekha Saini, Director of Radhika Culture Society, the performers impressed the audience with graceful choreography that beautifully blended expression, rhythm and movement.
Around 60 artists, ranging in age from five to eighty years, participated in the programme. Prominent performers included Piyush Kumar, Rekha Bhatt, Soumya Verma, Meera Bhatt, Rekha Guru, Manohar Popli, Raju Sajnani, Surendra Bijawat, Aditi Vats, Vinu Singhal, Kirti Singh, Veena Kacholia and Bindu Dabar.
The instrumental accompaniment featured Piyush Kumar on keyboard, Sawan Dangi on tabla, Mahendra Kumar on dholak and Durgesh Balodiya on percussion pad. Their accomplished performances, combined with disciplined presentations, thoughtful direction and melodious compositions, made the evening a memorable celebration of Indian music and culture.
