World Day for International Justice Highlights the Principle That No One Is Above the Law

Jaipur. World Day for International Justice is observed every year on July 17 to commemorate the adoption of the Rome Statute in 1998 and the establishment of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

According to law student Jahanvi Saini, the day aims to promote justice, protect human rights, ensure justice for victims, and hold perpetrators of serious international crimes accountable. The ICC prosecutes grave offences such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression when national courts are unable or unwilling to do so.

On this occasion, awareness programmes, discussions, and campaigns are organized around the world to promote justice and peace. The observance also reinforces the message that no one is above the law and that accountability is essential for safeguarding human rights and strengthening the rule of law.
