Jaipur/Bhubaneswar: Rajasthan’s promising badminton player Parul Chaudhary has secured her place in the Indian team for the World Junior Badminton Championships following an impressive performance at the All India Junior National Ranking Badminton Tournament held in Bhubaneswar.
The tournament also served as the selection event for the World Junior Badminton Championships. In the final, Parul defeated talented Tamil Nadu player Diksha S. R. by 20-18 and 15-7 to clinch the title and earn her place in the Indian squad.
With this historic achievement, Parul will now represent India at the World Junior Badminton Championships to be held in Egypt. She has also become the first girl from Rajasthan to earn the honour of representing the country at this prestigious international competition.
Parul is the niece of Devendra Jhajharia, a three-time Paralympic medallist, Padma Bhushan awardee and President of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).
Her achievement has brought immense joy to her family, the sporting fraternity and people across Rajasthan. Devendra Jhajharia congratulated Parul on her success and said that her hard work, discipline and dedication had helped her reach this milestone. He expressed confidence that she would bring laurels to both India and Rajasthan on the international stage.
