Jaipur Wax Museum at Nahargarh Fort to Reopen as ‘Historica – Step Into History’ New Immersive History Museum to Offer Visitors a Journey Through Royal Courts, Hadi Rani’s Sacrifice and a Palace of 2.5 Million Mirrors

Jaipur: The famous Jaipur Wax Museum, located at the historic Nahargarh Fort, is set to unveil a new identity as ‘Historica – Step Into History’, offering tourists an immersive journey through Rajasthan’s rich history, royal heritage and cultural traditions.

Promoted as the world's first multi-experiential history museum, Historica aims to transform the traditional museum experience into an interactive journey through time. Situated within the nearly 300-year-old Nahargarh Fort, the revamped attraction will allow visitors to experience history rather than simply observe it.

Museum founder Anoop Srivastava said the transformation was inspired by suggestions made by Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari during her visit to the museum. She had recommended enhancing the visitor experience to further highlight the heritage value of the attraction.

"Keeping her suggestions in mind, we developed the new concept of Historica, incorporating immersive films and engaging experiences to make Rajasthan's history more accessible and memorable for tourists," Srivastava said.

Four Unique Experiences Await Visitors

Historica will feature four major attractions designed to transport visitors into different chapters of Rajasthan's history.

Ram Prakash Talkies: The first attraction is a recreation of Rajasthan's first theatre, originally built in 1878–79 by Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II. A mega screen will showcase two immersive films, Mystery of Nahargarh and Hadi Rani. These films will introduce visitors to the fort's hidden stories, mysteries, sacrifices and tales of unfulfilled love.

The film on Hadi Rani will highlight the legendary Rajput queen's sacrifice, allowing visitors to develop a deeper emotional connection with her story before viewing her wax statue.

Sheesh Mahal: The second attraction is the magnificent Sheesh Mahal, featuring more than 2.5 million pieces of glass and a unique glass floor. The museum describes it as the world's only mirror palace of its kind.

The Royal Darbar: The third attraction will recreate the grandeur of Rajasthan's royal courts, offering visitors a glimpse into the lifestyle, traditions and magnificence of the region's erstwhile rulers.

Hall of Icons: The fourth attraction will feature more than 45 lifelike wax figures, allowing visitors to come face-to-face with prominent personalities from history and other fields.

A New Chapter in Jaipur's Heritage Tourism

The Jaipur Wax Museum was originally inaugurated by Bollywood actor Govinda in December 2016. It was introduced as the world's first wax museum established within a heritage site.

With its transformation into Historica, the museum aims to redefine heritage tourism by combining history, storytelling, cinema and immersive technology.

The initiative is expected to offer tourists a fresh perspective on Rajasthan's royal legacy while enhancing Nahargarh Fort's appeal as a major tourist destination.

Museum Timings: Historica will remain open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
