Jaipur: A remarkable collection of modern Indian art is on display at ICA Gallery’s annual exhibition, ‘Virtuosity’, bringing together the distinctive artistic visions of some of the country's most celebrated artists. The exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday by chief guest Manju Rajpal, Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, Government of Rajasthan, along with Vijendra Bansal and Abhinav Bansal of ICA Gallery.
The exhibition features artworks by more than 65 eminent artists, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the richness, diversity and evolution of modern Indian art.
Among the major highlights are celebrated works by M.F. Husain, including ‘Property of a Lady’, ‘Property of a Teacher’ and ‘Honolulu!’. The collection also features S.H. Raza’s ‘Achal’ and ‘Bindu’, alongside F.N. Souza’s ‘Untitled (Landscape with Crosses)’. These works reflect the diversity of styles, artistic expressions and experimental approaches that have shaped modern Indian art.
The exhibition also presents Paresh Maity’s works ‘Shantiniketan VI’ and ‘Shantiniketan XII’. Watercolour, gouache and pastel artworks by K.G. Subramanyan, along with works reflecting the distinctive artistic style of Ganesh Pyne, further enrich the collection.
Other notable artists represented in the exhibition include Bhupen Khakhar, with works in watercolour and graphite, and Jogen Chowdhury, whose displayed artworks explore the expressive possibilities of ink, pastel and charcoal. The collection also features a painting by Krishen Khanna, created using acrylic and charcoal on canvas, and an oil-on-masonite painting by Anjolie Ela Menon.
‘Virtuosity’ brings together a wide range of artistic mediums, styles and individual perspectives, highlighting the creative journeys of artists who have played a significant role in shaping India's modern art movement.
The exhibition offers art enthusiasts and visitors an opportunity to experience these celebrated artists' works up close and gain a deeper understanding of the ideas, techniques and creative innovations that have influenced the Indian art landscape.
