Ayodhya to Shine with Diyas from Govind Nagari: Over 5 Lakh Cow Dung Lamps Crafted for Diwali

Jaipur. This Diwali, the divine city of Ram, Ayodhya, will glow with the light of diyas made in Govind Nagari—Jaipur. The devotional spirit is being brought to life by over five lakh eco-friendly lamps crafted from cow dung at the Pinjrapole Gaushala located on Tonk Road, Jaipur.

A team of more than 10 women has been working tirelessly for the past three months to create these unique diyas. Their dedication is now set to light up every courtyard in Ayodhya, symbolizing a return of Lord Ram as homes across the holy city prepare to celebrate Diwali with eco-conscious brilliance.

These handmade diyas are not just sustainable but also beautiful. The process begins by molding cow dung into diya shapes using special molds. Once dried, the lamps are hand-painted in vibrant colors to make them visually appealing. Each diya is sold for ₹5, while the colored ones are priced at ₹7.

These diyas are not only lighting homes but also promoting environmental awareness. After use, they can be repurposed as organic manure for plants and trees, adding further value to their purpose.

Over the years, this initiative has become a tradition in Jaipur, with many residents choosing these cow dung lamps to illuminate their homes. This year, the lamps are set to play a key role in Ayodhya’s grand Diwali celebrations, ensuring that every corner of Ram's city sparkles with devotion, tradition, and sustainability
