Jaipur In a grand celebration of modern Indian art, the exhibition ‘Virtuosity’ brought together over 65 artworks by the country’s most renowned artists under one roof for the first time in Rajasthan. Organized to mark the 17th anniversary of ICA Gallery, the exhibition offered a breathtaking journey through the diversity, evolution, and brilliance of modern Indian art.
The preview event, held on Saturday, welcomed prominent guests from the city for an exclusive and intimate experience of the showcase.
The exhibition featured a rare and exceptional collection of artworks by some of India’s most celebrated modern masters, representing a rich intergenerational tapestry of artistic talent. Notable artists included M. F. Husain, Jamini Roy, Ramkinkar Baij, Ram Gopal Vijayvargiya, Bhupen Khakhar, Jogen Chowdhury, K. Laxma Goud, Krishen Khanna, Jangarh Singh Shyam, Jodhaiya Bai Baiga, Zarina Hashmi, T. Vaikuntam, Himmat Shah, and Jehangir Sabavala. Their works were exhibited alongside contemporary visionaries like Paresh Maity, Arpana Caur, Madhvi Parekh, Manu Parekh, and Vivan Sundaram.
Ranging from majestic abstract pieces to delicate experimental forms, and from classically modern paintings to bold contemporary expressions, Virtuosity offered an artistic timeline that spanned nearly a century. It even featured rare artworks from the 1930s, painstakingly collected over decades. Each piece reflected the artist’s mastery, vision, and emotional depth, turning the exhibition into a magnificent and unique celebration of modern Indian art within Rajasthan’s cultural landscape.
More than just an art display, Virtuosity served as a tribute to ICA Gallery’s 17-year journey of promoting Indian modern art.
