Jaipur. Students Anshu Suman and Mamta Sheoran from Kamal Poddar Institute / NIF Global Jaipur presented their collection titled “The Han–Sawdust” at Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI, held at the Jio World Convention Centre, BKC, Mumbai.
The presentation was part of NIF Global Jaipur’s collaboration with Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI, providing students with a prestigious national platform to showcase their creativity.
“The Han–Sawdust” is a cultural fusion collection that blends the soft, flowing, and elegant drapes of the traditional Korean Hanbok with Rajasthan’s Dabu hand block printing technique. The collection highlights how two distinct cultures—both deeply rooted in nature and craftsmanship—can come together in a harmonious and visually striking manner.
The silhouettes inspired by Hanbok are light, relaxed, and comfortable, while the Dabu printing technique, using mud, natural dyes, and sawdust, gives the fabric an earthy and organic appeal.The designers used sustainable and natural fabrics such as cotton mulmul, cotton twill, and khadi. The color palette is nature-inspired, featuring off-white, indigo, brown, and other earthy tones.
More than just fashion, the collection represents a thoughtful blend of heritage and sustainability. It aims to reinterpret traditional art and craft in a contemporary form without losing its essence.
The collection is designed for women who value meaning, storytelling, culture, and craftsmanship in fashion, rather than just trends. It appeals to those who appreciate both heritage and global aesthetics, combined with comfort and elegance.
Enhancing the experience, a special interactive talk session was आयोजित during the event, where NIF Global’s style icon Ananya Panday and mentor Gauri Khan interacted with students. They shared valuable insights on fashion, creativity, and the evolving industry, encouraging young designers to maintain their unique identity while adopting a global outlook. Both appreciated the collection and praised the students for their thoughtful concept and excellent execution.
