Becoming a Company Secretary Costs Less Than ₹1 Lakh, Unlike Doctors or Engineers: ICSI President Pawan G. Chandak”

 

Jaipur.National President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Pawan G. Chandak, said that Company Secretary (CS) is a profession where youth can easily build a successful career. He stated that while becoming a doctor or an engineer requires spending lakhs of rupees, the total cost of becoming a CS does not even reach ₹1 lakh. He also claimed that there is a strong demand for company secretaries today, and as a result, not a single qualified CS is unemployed.

He was addressing the media during a seminar organized by the ICSI Jaipur Chapter at a hotel on Tonk Road. Chandak explained that students can enroll in the CS course after completing Class 12. The course is completed in three stages—Foundation, Executive, and Professional. Students progress by clearing examinations at each level, and practical training is also mandatory to ensure hands-on experience.

During the event, Jaipur Chapter Chairman CS Sumit Kumar Sheoran said that the chapter is taking special care of its members by providing additional facilities. Agreements have been signed with companies in the banking and healthcare sectors, enabling ICSI members to avail various services at concessional rates.

The seminar was attended by Guest of Honour and former ICSI National President Manish Gupta. Central Council Member CS Manoj Purbey and former Jaipur Chapter Chairman Vivek Sharma were also present on the occasion.

Technical Sessions and Interactive Discussions

Jaipur Chapter Secretary Varun Mehra informed that an interactive session with the ICSI President was also held, where company secretaries asked questions and clarified their doubts.

This was followed by technical sessions focusing on regulatory changes and updates related to the Companies Act, 2013. The first technical session was addressed by CS Rahul Parsaramapuria, while the second session was led by CS Vineet Chaudhary. CS Manoj Maheshwari, CS Sandeep Jain, CS Divesh Goyal, and CS Jatin Singhal also participated in the discussions.

North Region Secretary Rahul Sharma highlighted that the demand for company secretaries is steadily increasing across private companies, multinational corporations, public sector undertakings, and the banking sector. A qualified CS plays a key role in managing legal matters, conducting board meetings, and ensuring regulatory compliance within organizations.
