Jaipur. On the occasion of World Museum Day, Jaipur Wax Museum at Nahargarh Fort announced a major new initiative aimed at enhancing the visitor experience through advanced technology, immersive storytelling, and virtual reality.
The museum revealed that it will now offer not just wax statues, but also cinematic storytelling experiences combined with live virtual sets and realistic film presentations alongside the wax figures.
Founder Director Anoop Srivastava said that today’s tourists no longer want to simply view statues; they want to feel and experience the stories through virtual reality and immersive technology. Keeping this vision in mind, the museum is being upgraded with modern technology in line with the vision of Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, who had visited the museum last year.
The initiative will begin with the wax statue of Hadi Rani. A special 10-minute film has been produced for the project, allowing visitors to not only see the statue but also understand the story of her sacrifice, dedication, love, and patriotism inside a 22-seat theatre. The post-production work of the film is currently underway in Mumbai.
The museum is also preparing a special film based on the history of Nahargarh Fort. The film will explain why and how the fort was built, the challenges faced during its construction, and the contributions of rulers including Sawai Jai Singh, Sawai Madho Singh, and Nahar Singh. The initiative aims to help tourists better understand the complete history of the fort.
From the upcoming tourism season, VR films will also be developed for selected wax statues to provide visitors with a more immersive experience. Anoop Srivastava said that all these upgrades are expected to be completed by the first week of August.
He further stated that while many ordinary wax museums exist across the country, Jaipur Wax Museum is the only museum in India located inside a 300-year-old heritage fort. The museum’s live sets, sound effects, and storytelling elements alongside wax statues have given it an international-level identity.
The Royal Figures Gallery and Sheesh Mahal remain the key attractions of the museum. The Sheesh Mahal features over 2.5 million glass pieces, intricate mirror work, and the use of pure gold. Work is also underway on automated lighting systems for Sheesh Mahal, which will allow visitors to experience the hall under different lighting effects. In addition, the exterior areas of the museum will be decorated with colourful LED lights to create a unique night-time experience for tourists.
These new features are expected to further establish Jaipur Wax Museum as one of Jaipur’s must-visit tourist attractions.
