Senior Defence Officers Address Press Conference in Jaipur on First Anniversary of Operation Sindoor
Jaipur May 8. On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, senior Indian military officials on Thursday said that no terrorist hideout in Pakistan is safe and reaffirmed that India will continue its fight against terrorism.
Addressing a press conference in Jaipur, the officials said that although the victims of the Pahalgam attack cannot be brought back, the armed forces are committed to ensuring that such incidents are never repeated. They stated that the objective of Operation Sindoor was clear from the beginning and the armed forces were given complete operational freedom.
The officers said the operation sent a strong message that terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) would not be tolerated. “This operation was not the end, but the beginning. India will continue to fight against terrorism,” they said.
Lieutenant General Zubin A. Minwalla, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, and Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, along with several other senior military officials, were present at the press conference held in the state capital.
The officials stated that during Operation Sindoor, more than 100 Pakistani personnel and over 100 terrorists present in terror camps were killed.
‘Aatmanirbhar Is Not Just a Slogan’: Rajiv Ghai
Director General of Military Operations and Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said that Operation Sindoor proved that “Aatmanirbhar” is not merely a slogan, but a major force multiplier for India’s defence strength.
He said that more than 65 percent of India’s defence equipment is now being manufactured within the country and the armed forces are actively using those indigenous systems.
“Operation Sindoor is not over yet. It is only the beginning,” Ghai said.
Quoting poet Dushyant Kumar, he added, “My aim is not merely to create noise, but to change the situation.”
Nine Terror Bases Destroyed, 11 Airfields Damaged
Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti said India has always believed in the principle of “live and let live,” but when the country’s desire for peace is mistaken for weakness, decisive action becomes unavoidable.
“When we act, there is no room for leniency,” he said.
Bharti stated that the objective of Operation Sindoor was absolutely clear — to destroy terrorist infrastructure operating in PoK as well as inside Pakistan.
He added that when India struck its first target in the early hours of May 7, 2025, it carried a powerful message of India’s strength and resolve deep into enemy territory.
According to the officials, nine terrorist hideouts were destroyed and 11 airfields were damaged during the operation.
