Civil Lines MLA Inaugurates “Somnath Swabhiman Parv” Exhibition at Albert Hall

Jaipur May 11.Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma on Monday inaugurated a painting and photo exhibition organized under the “Somnath Swabhiman Parv” at the Government Central Museum, Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur.

The exhibition has been organized by the Department of Art, Literature, Culture and Archaeology, Government of Rajasthan, under the directions of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, marking 1000 years of the first attack on the Somnath Temple and 75 years of its reconstruction.

On the occasion, Gopal Sharma said that the Somnath Temple is a symbol of India’s cultural consciousness, faith, and self-respect. Despite numerous invasions and challenges throughout history, the reconstruction of Somnath stands as an inspiring example of the indomitable spirit and cultural resurgence of Indian society.

He added that such events serve as an important medium to connect the younger generation with India’s glorious history, cultural heritage, and spirit of nationalism.

The exhibition displayed rare paintings and photographs related to the history, grandeur, struggle, and reconstruction of the Somnath Temple, which attracted keen interest from visitors.

Among those present at the event were Director of Archaeology and Museums Department Rajasthan Pankaj Dhirendra, Joint Director Krishnakanta Sharma, Circle Superintendent of Jaipur Division Neeraj Kumar Tripathi, Albert Hall Museum Superintendent Mahendra Kumar Nimhal, former councillor chairman Pawan Sharma Nataraj, along with officials and staff members of the Archaeology and Museums Department.
